Really well! Steno can handle medical terminology, engineering terminology, and practically all specialized fields. 2️⃣ How well does Steno deal with accents? I have a slight Chinese accent and it handles it no problem. We have a demo of a fantastic lecture on Stability Analysis by an Indian Lecturer on the landing page being transcribed nearly perfectly! 3️⃣ Does Steno work with other languages? We do have a multi-language version Steno that works with all major languages, it is slightly slower than the default version. If you’d like to use that one instead, send us a DM and we’ll send you that version privately! 4️⃣ Does Steno know names/locations? Steno is good at all sorts of names like Figma, Taylor Swift, San Francisco. However, he probably won't be able to figure out if it's Emilee, Emily, or Ehmahlee. 5️⃣ What's Steno's tech stack? Steno is a app with on the frontend and on the backend. whisper.cpp for transcription and silero for voice activity detection! 6️⃣ Does it drain my battery to leave Steno awake on my screen? On a MacBook Air M1, keeping it awake uses up only 4% CPU, about the same as the mac note taking app! 7️⃣ Does Steno store anything that I say? No! Steno does not store anything you say and is 100% private! 8️⃣ Can I use this with my Intel Mac? We do have an intel build as well.
