SmartPause is a native macOS menu bar app for people who spend long days at a desk and want breaks that are useful enough to keep. It combines micro breaks, longer recovery breaks, guided neck/shoulder/eye/posture resets, smart interruption detection, Pomodoro, Focus Guard, and History & Trends.
Hey Product Hunt, I built SmartPause after realizing that my desk-work pain was not only a therapy problem. Therapy helped, but I kept returning to the same work rhythm every day: sitting too long, moving too little, and reacting only after the stiffness had already built up.
Most break reminder apps I tried had the same issue for me: either I ignored them, or they interrupted at exactly the wrong time.
SmartPause is my attempt at a quieter native Mac workflow:
- short and long breaks
- guided neck, shoulder, posture, breathing, and eye resets
- smart timing around calls, screen sharing, DND, fullscreen work, and meetings
- a free core after the 7-day Pro preview
- one-time Pro unlock, no subscription
