I'm the developer for this app - I wrote it to fulfil a real need I had: I often have to share device screen recordings with my team, but these can run at about 1Mb per second or more. Quickly passing that through Skwish can reduce the size by as much as 90% without greatly effecting the actual video quality, which makes it much quicker to share and takes up less storage on disk
I wanted to make it a fun an friendly approachable app, so I gave it a bit of a personality. Watch it strain and struggle as is literally squishes the bytes out of your video files!
For serious use, there's a command line tool that you can install via homebrew for scripting and batch processing (this requires you to have unlocked the paid app to function). There's also shortcuts support on both platforms.
