Local AI for dictation, meetings, background tasks and more
sideOS lives in your Mac’s notch. Hold Control + Option, say what you want, let go! It reads your screen, opens apps, clicks, types and tells you when it’s done. Run it fully offline local models or use your own Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or Grok key.
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Buğrahan, the maker of sideOS.
Every MacBook has a notch that just… sits there. I wanted an assistant that lives there and actually does things on my Mac — not another chat window I have to copy and paste out of.
So that's sideOS: hold Control + Option, say what you want, let go. It reads your screen, opens apps, clicks, types, and tells you out loud when it's done. "Reply to Alex — politely say no" is a whole task.
A few decisions I'd love your take on:
🔒 Private by default. Speech is recognized on your Mac. There's no account and no server of ours between you and the model: you bring a Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or Grok key (it lives in your Keychain), or run Qwen3 / GPT-OSS fully on-device with MLX — no internet at all.
⚡ It reads the screen through macOS accessibility, not screenshots — every button by name, in about 50 ms. That's why a typical command lands around 2–5¢ on your own provider bill.
🧰 It's more than commands: dictation into any app (62 languages, on-device), meetings recorded and transcribed on your Mac, reminders that can do the job before they ring, background research tasks, and one-click connections to Gmail, Calendar, Notion, Slack, GitHub or any MCP server.
💳 One-time purchase. No subscription — buy it once and every future update is included.
