Scync
Your secrets. Synced. Encrypted. Everywhere.
The secure home your secrets actually deserve. Scync is an open-source, zero-knowledge vault for solo devs tired of losing API keys and secrets. Say goodbye to chaotic flat lists. Organize credentials by project, drag-and-dropenv files to instantly import keys, and safely track numbered 2FA & recovery codes. Backed by client-side AES-256-GCM encryption and biometric unlock, your data stays perfectly organized and architecturally impossible for anyone else to read, even servers.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Hariharen, a software engineer. While working on various backend and open-source projects, I kept running into the exact same frustrating problem: I had 47 API keys, and I knew where exactly zero of them were.
My secrets were scattered across a digital wasteland. One was in a .env file I was terrified to delete. Another was buried in a 2022 Slack DM. My AWS credentials lived in an unencrypted Notion page titled "stuff", and my 2FA codes were trapped on an old phone.
When I needed an API key, I either found it in three seconds, or spent 45 minutes regenerating it and updating six different projects. There was no in-between.
I looked for solutions, but the market is polarized. You either get a consumer password manager (bad UX for developer metadata) or an enterprise CI/CD behemoth (massive overkill for a solo dev).
So, I built Scync to fill the gap. It is essentially "Notion for developer secrets."
Here is what makes it different:
🔐 Zero-Knowledge by Default: Client-side AES-256-GCM encryption using the Web Crypto API. The server never sees your plaintext data.
📁 Project-Based Organization: Your credentials live inside organized workspaces, not a chaotic flat list.
📄 .env Workflow Integration: Drag-and-drop .env file imports and secure exports.
⚡ Native-Speed Unlock: Hardware-backed biometric unlock (FaceID/TouchID) via WebAuthn PRF.
Scync is completely free and MIT-licensed. There is no enterprise pricing tier waiting to trap you.
I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any questions you have about the cryptographic architecture! Thank you for checking it out! 🚀
