I’m Eiaser, the maker of ScanQ - QR & Barcode Scanner, and I’m excited to share it with you today.
What inspired me:
I scan QR codes and barcodes almost every day, and the scanner apps I tried kept frustrating me. Some were packed with ads, some were slow, and some needed an internet connection just to read a simple code. A tool this basic shouldn’t get in your way.
What I built:
ScanQ - QR & Barcode Scanner is a fast, lightweight scanner that:
⚡ Scans QR codes and barcodes instantly (16+ formats)
📴 Works completely offline
🖼️ Scans from gallery images, not just the live camera
🎨 Generates QR codes for Wi-Fi, contacts, URLs, SMS, email, events and more
🗂️ Keeps a scan history with favorites and filters
🔐 Stores everything locally, with no account and no cloud sync
🚫 Has no ads and no subscriptions
How it evolved:
I started with just scanning, but quickly realized people also needed to create QR codes and scan screenshots, so I added a generator and gallery scanning. Privacy became a core principle along the way, so everything stays on your device.
