Hey Product Hunt. Dave here, the solo maker. I grew up watching the weather channel's local forecast. The smooth jazz, the cycling scenes, the ticker, local forecast at the 8 minute mark. That broadcast (driven by IBM's Weather Star 4000) was a daily ritual for a generation. I built RetroWeather because I wanted it on my Apple TV, back in my living room. It's a real weather app, not a static screensaver. Live data from Apple WeatherKit and NOAA, rendered through faithful '90s scenes. The ticker runs continuously. The smooth jazz plays on a loop. Dock an old iPhone or iPad and it becomes the perfect ambient screen, exactly the way it used to look on TV. Apple TV just shipped this week too. Quick note on timing. TWC launched retrocast recently. RetroWeather has been on the App Store since February 2026. Different product, different focus. This one is the indie love letter. No ads (ever - I'm not a fan!), no account required. Runs on iOS 17 and up. What you get: 9 scene pipelines covering current conditions, hourly, local and extended forecast, regional, latest observations, travel, alerts, and radar Ticker driven by live NOAA and WeatherKit data Smooth jazz and many other playlists One time Classic Upgrade if you hate subscriptions, or Pro if you want the whole thing If you watched TWC growing up, this'll hit instantly. If you have an old iPad sitting in a drawer, you just found its second career. Would love your feedback, especially from anyone who remembers the ticker. What scene do you miss most?
