Explain what you know to AI and discover what you don't
Most AI learning tools explain things to you. ReExplain flips that interaction: instead of AI explaining a concept to you, you explain it to AI in your own words. It listens, asks thoughtful follow-up questions, and helps reveal what you truly understand - and where the gaps are. Your sessions become evidence of your learning, generating focused practice and building a mastery map that grows over time.
I’ve always felt that one of the biggest problems with learning is that we often confuse familiarity with understanding. We read a chapter, watch a lecture, highlight half the page, and feel like we understand the topic - until someone asks us to explain it in our own words.
That idea, along with the teach-back principle, inspired me to build ReExplain.
ReExplain is a learning app that flips the usual AI tutor experience. Instead of asking AI to explain a concept to you, you explain the concept to AI. Upload a PDF, choose an idea, and teach it back in your own words. The AI acts as a curious learner: it tells you what it understood, asks follow-up questions when something is unclear, and helps uncover gaps in your understanding.
Over time, these conversations become more than just chat history. ReExplain builds a picture of what you actually understand, creates focused practice based on your weak areas, and helps your mastery grow across the things you learn.
I built this because I believe AI in education shouldn't always do more of the thinking for us. Sometimes, the most useful thing AI can do is listen while we think out loud.
This is my first step toward making learning more active and helping people answer a simple but important question: "Do I really understand this - or do I just recognise it?"
Would love to hear what you think about the idea, the teach-back approach, and how you would use ReExplain in your own learning.

Who hunted ReExplain?
ReExplain was hunted by Indrajit Vijayakumar. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
