Podroll Atlas
An interactive map of podcasts recommending podcasts
Interactive map of ~33k podcasts and who recommends whom, mined from the Podcasting 2.0 podroll RSS tag. Click any show to see its outgoing and incoming recommendations. Static, runs in your browser, no backend. Open source, CC BY.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
A few days ago PodcastIndex released open datasets, including one mining the "podroll" RSS tag: that's the Podcasting 2.0 way for a podcaster to publicly recommend other shows from inside their own RSS feed.
I turned it into a navigable graph: each dot is a podcast, click any of them to see what it recommends (cyan arrows) and who recommends it (pink arrows). Search a title and the camera flies to it. ~33k podcasts, ~150k edges, runs entirely in your browser via Canvas + D3. No backend.
Stack: vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, D3 (for force, zoom, and quadtree), Canvas 2D. IndexedDB caching, 24h TTL. Source is on GitHub, CC BY 4.0.

Podroll Atlas was hunted by Alberto Betella. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
