Open Graph & Twitter Card Validator API
A validator, not a scraper: grade OG and Twitter tags
Give it a page URL (or HTML) and get a JSON report on its social-sharing tags: required and recommended Open Graph properties, Twitter/X card type and image, title and description lengths, og:url vs canonical, and one small ranged request to check the image responds with a sane type and size. Coded issues, a grade (A+ to F) and a score out of 100. For CI gates and SEO audits.
Hi everyone, this is Open Graph & Twitter Card Validator API.
It is a validator, not a link-preview scraper. Give it a page URL (or HTML) and it reads the Open Graph, Twitter Card and basic meta tags in the served HTML, checks them and returns JSON: coded issues with a severity of error, warning or info, an overall grade (A+ to F) and a score out of 100. It also returns a best-guess preview object (Open Graph first, then Twitter, then the page's own tags); each platform picks its own fields, so this does not reproduce what a platform crawler sees.
Checks include required and recommended og: properties, twitter:card validity and image, title and description lengths, og:url versus canonical mismatches, duplicate tags and image URL problems. By default it also sends one 1-byte ranged GET to the image (og:image, falling back to twitter:image) to check that it responds, has an image content type and a size within platform limits; probe=0 skips it.
Two endpoints:
- GET /v1/check?url= reads the page (up to 5 redirects, first 1 MB of HTML). Cached for 6 hours per URL; fresh=1 bypasses the cache.
- POST /v1/validate checks HTML you send in (up to 512 KB), offline, with no outbound request and no image request.
Limits: only tags in the served HTML are read (no JavaScript rendering). Platforms cache previews on their side and this report does not refresh them. Image dimensions come from the og:image:width/height tags, not from the file. A page answering HTTP 4xx/5xx returns grade unchecked and a page with no social tags returns no_social_tags; neither is a pass. One error scores 75 (grade C), so gate on summary.errors. Private-network page URLs are rejected. Not affiliated with Meta, Facebook, X or LinkedIn.
Where to find it: RapidAPI (public, https://rapidapi.com/tossneon0/a...), API.Market and APIHub. Product site: https://og-validator.glowhalo.org
Feedback on the checks and the scoring is welcome.
