Hi Product Hunt — I’m Crystal, the creator of Odyssey.
Odyssey began with a question from my book club: could a classic become something we experience, rather than something we only summarize?
I built a fourteen-shore journey where every traveler follows Homer’s fixed route, but GPT-5.6 remembers their words and returns them at Ithaca through narration, bounded divine encounters, Journey Memory, and a final Journey Card.
The hardest design decision was limiting AI authority. Sol/Homer interprets the journey. Terra and Luna speak only at bounded literary thresholds. A deterministic engine owns progress and endings. Penelope’s final recognition is authored rather than generated.
Codex was my implementation partner across product development, testing, deployment, and QA. The result is a working public experience with 148 automated tests, responsive and reduced-motion support, and no login required.
I would especially value feedback on one question: does Odyssey make a classic feel more returnable—not easier, but more personally alive?
