Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Gert, an archery coach and the founder of NockThat.
NockThat started with a challenge I faced as a coach: I wanted a better way to follow my athletes’ development and understand how their training was going, while making practice more motivating and fun.
Scores tell part of the story, but I wanted to see more of what happens around them. How does an athlete feel before practice? How do they feel afterwards? What other training are they doing? Over time, those details can help athletes and coaches notice patterns and have more useful conversations about progress.
That idea became NockThat:
🏹 A training journal for the whole athlete
Log archery sessions, exercises that support your shooting, and other sports or physical training. The aim is to bring the work you put into your development into one place.
📊 Check-ins that give your training context
Answer questions before and after practice to build a picture of your training over time. These responses form statistics that help you explore patterns and understand what may be affecting your shooting.
🎯 Motivation through XP
A Duolingo-inspired XP system rewards showing up and putting in the work. Archery, supporting exercises, and other sports all earn XP—because progress involves more than shooting arrows.
🏆 Inter-club competitions
Bring a shared goal and some friendly competition into training, giving archers another reason to stay involved and keep practising.
🤝 An optional connection with your coach
Coaches can create a code for their athletes to connect with them. This lets the coach follow their athletes’ training and statistics and use that information to guide their advice.
My goal is to build something useful on both sides: a journal that archers enjoy using and a tool that helps coaches understand and support their athletes.
