Movie Maker Edit
Free browser-based video editor for AI clips and home videos
✅ COMPLETELY FREE — NO API KEY, NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO SIGNUP, NO WATERMARK. Drag in your clips. Trim what you don't want. Pick a soundtrack. Click Export. Done. That's the whole app. Movie Maker Edit stitches AI clips and home videos into finished movies in a few minutes, right in your browser. The editor competing video tools should have been.
👋 Hi Product Hunt! Louis Iacoletti here, CEO and Founding Member of Iacoletti Software AI Solutions.
🆓 Movie Maker Edit is completely free. No API key. No subscription. No account. No watermark. Open it in your browser and start editing. Your content never leaves your machine.
🎬 I built it because I got tired of being disappointed by video editors. I tried Clipchamp. I tried CapCut. I tried iMovie. They are not bad products — they are competent products built for someone else. The paid editors are bloated and hide the export button behind a paywall halfway through your project. The free ones are crippled — they'll let you stitch three clips together as long as you don't mind a watermark stamped across your kid's dance recital.
☕ So one morning, with an Earl Grey on my desk and a stretch of empty calendar in front of me, I decided to stop complaining and build the editor I actually wanted to use.
✨ Unlike the competition, Movie Maker Edit is genuinely simple to use. A few clicks and your video is done. Drag in your clips. Trim what you don't want. Add any song from your music collection. Click Export. That's the whole app. No timeline cluttered with panels you'll never touch. No tutorials gating the easy part behind the hard part. No 47-button interface. Just the five things you actually need, in the order you actually need them.
🎵 Yes — your music. Drop in any MP3 or WAV from your library, your iTunes folder, your downloads, a song you recorded yourself, a podcast clip, an instrumental, anything. Three modes: keep the original audio from your clips, replace it entirely with your music, or mix the two. Your soundtrack, your call. Nothing routes through a streaming service or a rights checker — the file goes from your computer to your finished video, full stop.
🎥 Movie Maker Edit pairs naturally with two other apps in my portfolio: Movie Maker Grok generates AI video clips using xAI Grok Imagine, and Movie Maker Gemini generates them using Google Veo 3.1. Stitch those together with your own home videos and phone footage in Movie Maker Edit, and you have a full no-paywall pipeline from "I have an idea" to "I have a finished film."
🌟 Some things to try:
🎥 Stitch a few AI-generated clips into a short film scored with your favorite track
✈️ Edit a vacation recap you've been meaning to finish since 2019
💍 Make a wedding, graduation, or birthday montage that finally gets done
🎸 Build a music video for your indie band — your song, your visuals, no production crew
⚽ Turn a kid's soccer season into a 5-minute highlight reel set to their warm-up music
🏠 Cut a real estate listing walkthrough that opens in any browser
📱 Create a TikTok / Reel / Short at the exact resolution the algorithms reward
🔑 How is this free when my other apps are BYOK? Because Movie Maker Edit is not an AI-generation tool. It is a video editing tool. The heavy lifting — decoding clips, trimming frames, applying transitions, stitching, encoding — is classical computation. It runs in your browser, on your machine, with code I wrote, and never calls a paid API. My BYOK apps are free in the sense that I don't charge you; the model provider charges you at cost. Movie Maker Edit is free in the older, simpler sense — nobody charges anyone, ever.
🧠 Full transparency on how this got built: every line of code, every architectural decision, every FFmpeg.wasm filter graph — Claude Opus 4.7 Adaptive did the engineering heavy lifting while I directed. I could not have shipped this in one day on my own, and I could not have shipped it with any lesser AI either. AI is changing what a single person can accomplish in a single day. This tool is what that looks like in 2026.
🚀 I also recently launched Movie Maker Grok and Movie Maker Gemini for AI video generation, Lyric Remix Studio Gemini for AI music transformation, DescribeThat Claude for photo intelligence, ScamCheck Claude for fraud detection, What's The Catch Claude for legal document review, and Wiki 2066 for AI biographies.
Happy to answer any questions.
