I built MioType because most of my day is now spent writing long prompts for coding agents, and typing them was the slowest part. Press Fn, say what you mean, press Fn again, and the text lands wherever your cursor is: terminal, editor, Slack, a commit message.
Two things I wanted that other dictation apps didn't have:
• Translation built in. English isn't my first language. Fn+Left Shift lets me speak Chinese and get English text; Fn+Control translates whatever I've selected, right next to it.
• It learns your words. If it mishears kubectl or useEffect and you correct it in the text box, it gets it right next time.
Pricing: a free account gets 3,000 words a week in the cloud. Pro is $9.99/month, $59.99/year, or $149 once. You can also run a local Whisper model or bring your own API key and pay nothing.
Mac only (Apple silicon) for now. I'd love to hear what breaks and what you'd want next.
