Mewmori
A pixel cat on your desktop that remembers you. Local AI.
Mewmori is a pixel cat that lives on your Mac desktop. He notices what you're working on, says something about it, and remembers you between sessions: your name, what you told him, what you were doing last week. The language model runs on your machine, so screen contents, conversations and memory stay there. There is no account. Free, 26 MB, macOS 14.6+. The model is a separate 1.4 GB download you approve first; the cat works without it. Only skins are paid.
Hi, I'm Maxim. I build iOS apps for a living and made this alone, mostly at night.
The desk is quiet at 2am. I didn't want a chatbot in a window. I wanted something that was simply there and would notice I'd been staring at a red build for twenty minutes.
Two decisions I made early and never moved on.
It runs locally. A pet that phones home about what's on your screen isn't a pet. A 2B model on-device is worse at trivia than a cloud model and much better at being a cat.
It remembers. The difference between a toy and a companion is whether it recognises you tomorrow. Memory is facts, not chat history: what you work on, what you told it, how many days in a row you showed up.
It went public in Russia in August before I planned to, and a few hundred people used it on the busiest day. They found bugs I would never have found alone. The worst one was mine: an idle loop running OCR ten times a minute, forever, on a pet that is idle almost all the time. That is fixed.
There is also a beta assistant that can set reminders and press buttons in other apps. It is off by default and it is the riskiest part of the app, so it is not in the headline. Happy to talk about where its limits are.
Ask me anything. I am here all day.
