Mead Journal

The batch journal for home mead makers

Mead Journal is a batch log for people who make mead at home. Add ingredients, nutrients, gravity and pH readings, racking and photos, each with a date, and the timeline shows the whole batch day by day. It also has 14 mead calculators (must, TOSNA nutrients, stabilization, backsweetening, carbonation), a database of 138 yeast strains, and a label creator that exports a print-ready PDF. Runs in the browser and installs as a PWA.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Luke, I make mead at home and I built Mead Journal on my own. The problem was simple. Mead takes months. By the time a batch is ready to bottle, I couldn't remember how much honey went in, which day I added the second nutrient dose, or what the starting gravity was. My notes were split between a paper notebook, my phone, and a spreadsheet. So Mead Journal is built around dates. Every ingredient, nutrient addition, gravity or pH reading, racking, note and photo has one, and the batch timeline puts them in order with a day number next to each entry. A few things I'm happy with: • 14 calculators made for mead: must (honey and water for a target ABV), TOSNA 2.0 nutrient schedule, sulfite by pH, sorbate, backsweetening, priming, bottling. You can save a result straight into a batch. • A yeast database of 138 strains with alcohol tolerance, temperature range and nitrogen demand, filterable by traits. • A label creator with ready to use library of images, templates, QR codes and a print-ready PDF sheet. • The app is in 18 languages. What it doesn't do yet: no fermentation charts, no reminders, no offline mode. I'd rather say that up front. Free plan: 5 batches and every calculator. Pro is $6.99 a month and removes the batch, note, photo and label limits. I'd love to hear what you'd add to your own mead log, and what's missing for your process.
