Mditoor
Write and publish MDX blogs from one desktop app
Mditoor is a free, open-source Markdown and MDX desktop editor for developers. Write blog posts, manage frontmatter and images, and publish through Git or DEV.to. Built with Tauri and Rust, with local-first editing and RTL/LTR support.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm a software engineer and the solo developer behind Mditoor.
I started building it because managing Markdown and MDX blog posts directly in a code editor often felt more complicated than it needed to be, especially when dealing with frontmatter, images, and Git.
I wanted a desktop app that made writing easier without giving up control over my files.
So I built Mditoor using Tauri, React, and Rust.
Here's what it includes:
- Visual Markdown editing and raw Markdown mode
- Frontmatter editing through customizable forms
- Image management and optimization
- Built-in Git integration
- DEV.to publishing
- Support for Next.js, Astro, Hugo, and other frameworks
- Automatic RTL/LTR support for multilingual writing
Mditoor is completely free and open source. It's still an early release, and I'm actively improving it.
I'd love to hear from developers who maintain their own blogs. What would make your writing and publishing workflow easier?
