MailPixel
Email open tracking with one pixel, no account needed
MailPixel creates a hosted email tracking pixel in one click, with no account and no access to your inbox. Paste the pixel into your email and open a private link to see a timestamped timeline of image requests, then pause or delete it anytime. Gmail users can track right in compose with our Chrome extension. Unlike trackers that promise "read receipts", MailPixel is honest: privacy proxies and caching mean an open is a signal, not proof of a read
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm faker, maker of MailPixel.
The problem: after sending an important email (a proposal, a job application, a
cold intro), I never knew whether to follow up. Most email trackers wanted me
to create an account, connect my inbox, or pay for a sales platform, just to
answer one simple question.
So I built MailPixel:
• Click once → get a hosted tracking pixel. No sign-up.
• A private link shows a timestamped timeline of image requests.
• Pause or delete the pixel anytime; pixels expire after 30 days.
• Using Gmail? The Chrome extension adds tracking right inside compose.
One thing I changed along the way: I stopped calling it a "read receipt."
Gmail's image proxy, Apple Mail Privacy Protection and blocked images all
distort open data, so MailPixel shows requests as signals, not proof. I'd
rather be honest than show fake 100% open rates.
It's completely free. I'd love your feedback:
- What would make you trust an email tracker more?
- Should the website and the Gmail extension share one dashboard?
Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

Who hunted MailPixel?
MailPixel was hunted by Elke. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
