MacroScout

Scan a restaurant menu, see which dishes fit your macros

Most calorie apps help after you've eaten. MacroScout helps while you're still reading the menu. Photograph a restaurant menu and it checks each dish against the calories and protein you have left today, then shows the three that fit best, with estimates adjusted for restaurant cooking and common allergens flagged. You can also snap your plate, say or type a meal, or scan a barcode. It's tuned for home cooking and regional dishes, including South Asian food.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Javed, the maker of MacroScout. Most calorie apps only help after the meal. MacroScout is built for the moment you're reading a menu: take a photo and it ranks the dishes that fit the calories and protein you have left today. Restaurant food hides a lot of oil and butter, so the estimates are nudged up for restaurant cooking, and if you share a platter you can log just your share. It's free to download. Barcode scanning and manual entry are free; photo, menu and voice logging are part of MacroScout Pro. I'd love honest feedback, especially on the menu scan. What would make it more useful when you eat out?
