LexiChain
One word, every letter, and a streak that forgives
Most daily games punish you twice: lose today and you lose the streak too. LexiChain doesn't. Everyone gets the same word chain each day — spell it out letter by letter, every letter answered from the same category, against the clock. Play it and your streak holds, win or lose. Every seventh day banks a rest day that quietly covers one you miss. Share a spoiler-free grid when you're done. Free on iPhone and iPad; paid packs optional.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 LexiChain has been here before — I launched it earlier this year as a word game and it did fine and then did nothing, which is a very normal thing for a word game to do. I spent the autumn working out why, and 1.3 is the answer. It is a different product in the way that matters, so I'm posting it again rather than quietly shipping it. Here's the itch. I like daily games and I keep losing streaks. Not by forgetting — by having a bad day. You open the thing at 11pm, your brain is gone, you fail, and the app takes the streak away as though failing and not turning up were the same offence. So the streak stops being a reward for a habit and becomes a thing you're frightened of, and then one day you just don't open it again. So LexiChain's streak counts attendance, not mastery. Play today's chain and the streak holds — win or lose. On top of that, every seventh day you bank a rest day, up to two, and if you miss a day it spends one quietly to cover you. You find out it happened because the app tells you, not because the number vanished. What it is: • One chain a day, numbered, the same word for every player — a root word you spell out letter by letter, each letter answered with another word from the same category. TOMATO in Vegetables: a vegetable starting with T, then O, then M, to the end. Each letter has its own clock. • Lose a letter and it tells you what would have worked. Most rounds end with "oh, of course" rather than a shrug. • A spoiler-free share grid — green and red squares, the word never in it. • Ten categories free, over 1,100 words. Thirty more packs if you want them. • An optional reminder, one a day, which it only offers after you've played two days running. Built in SwiftUI for iPhone and iPad. There's no server anywhere in it: the daily chain is derived from the date with a fixed algorithm, so every device works out the same puzzle offline, independently. No account, no login, no analytics SDK, nothing leaves the device. That also means no global leaderboard — I'd rather it work on a plane than rank you. Free vs paid, plainly: the daily chain, the streak, sharing, reminders, achievements, all three difficulties, local duels and ten word categories are free and stay free. Premium unlocks the other thirty content packs, as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Nothing else is gated — Premium buys words, not features. The upfront caveats, before someone finds them: the "multiplayer" is two phones in the same room over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, not online — if you have nobody next to you, it's a solo game. It's English only. And the streak is forgiving, not unbreakable: miss two days running with no rest day banked and it does reset. Three things I'd genuinely like opinions on: 1. Is attendance the right thing for a streak to measure, or does it make the streak feel cheap? 2. The daily is Standard difficulty for everyone so the scores compare. Should Relaxed players get their own board instead, or does that defeat the point? 3. Showing you the answer you missed — does that help, or does it take the sting out in a way that makes you care less? Ask me anything!
