Kyro
Local-First Autonomous Desktop AI Agent
Kyro is an open-source, local-first autonomous desktop AI agent built with Tauri v2, Rust native core, and React 19. A product from Tonmoy Infrastructure, owned and architected by Eshan Roy.
I started building Kyro because I wanted an AI assistant that could do more than answer questions or generate code. I wanted something that could actually help me work with my computer—from organizing files and understanding documents to automating browser tasks and working inside development projects.
So I built Kyro: a local-first desktop AI agent with a native Rust backend, Tauri, and React.
Here's what I'm working on:
🖥️ Everyday workflows: File organization, document assistance, and screen understanding.
🔌 Tool integrations: MCP support, browser automation, and connected services.
🔐 Security and control: Local data storage, OS keyring integration, and approval policies for sensitive actions.
Kyro is an ongoing project, and I'm here to learn from the people who use it.
I'd especially appreciate your feedback on three things:
Which desktop task would you trust an AI agent to handle first?
What would make you comfortable letting an AI agent interact with your computer?
Which workflow would you most like to see improved in Kyro?
Thanks for checking it out. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think!
