Hi Product Hunt! I'm Alex, and I made Image Save.
More and more sites serve images as WebP, and when you just want a normal JPG or PNG, the "Save image as" menu doesn't help. For years the go-to fix was a small extension called "Save image as Type". In March 2026 Google removed it from the Chrome Web Store as malware: after an ownership change it had started injecting affiliate links. Some of the remaining options now ask for a paid upgrade or push notifications.
So I built a replacement with a few strict rules:
- Conversion happens in your browser, on your device. Images are never uploaded anywhere, and I receive no data, analytics or browsing history.
- No account, no quotas, no subscription, no ads.
- It asks for access to a website only when that site blocks the image, and only after you press a button.
What it does: right-click an image to save the original file unchanged, or convert it to JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or a one-page PDF. Animated WebP can become an animated GIF. The interface is available in 20 languages.
It works in Chrome and Brave. I'd really like to hear what breaks for you: sites where saving fails, formats you miss, anything confusing.
