HostingSift
Compare hosting like the affiliate game doesn't exist
Every "best hosting" article ranks by commission rates. Renewal prices stay hidden until year two. So I built the site I actually wanted to use. HostingSift currently tracks 45 providers and over 1200 plans: - Filters by price, storage, bandwidth, tech stack - True Cost Calculator for what you'll pay over 1-3 years - Hosting Quiz to match you with a provider - Daily price updates - No registration required, just open and compare - Every provider treated equally, no pay-to-play
Hey Hunters, Todor here. Indie maker from Sofia.
I spent years writing code for other people's products. HostingSift is one of my first real shots at building my own thing, and I picked the hosting comparison
space for one specific reason: every comparison site I've ever used is basically an affiliate funnel. The top spots rotate based on commission rates, not quality.
Renewal prices stay hidden until year two. The whole category got hollowed out by affiliate revenue years ago.
I started small. A scraping script for a handful of providers, just to see if I could keep prices fresh automatically. What hooked me was adding a renewal price column. A $2.99 intro plan that renews at $14.99 changes the math entirely when both numbers are visible at once.
From there it grew:
- 45 providers, over 1200+ plans, prices updated daily
- True Cost Calculator that adds up actual spend across 1-3 years
- Filters by price, storage, bandwidth, and tech stack
- Hosting Quiz that matches you to a provider
- No registration, just open and compare
The hardest part hasn't been the code. It's been resisting the temptation to slap an "Editor's Choice" badge on whoever pays the highest commission. Affiliate
revenue is real money. But the second I do that, I become the thing I'm replacing.
Working on public price history charts next, since I've been collecting that data quietly for a while.
