HackerSwipe
Discover Hacker News stories tuned to you in seconds
HackerSwipe turns Hacker News into swipeable cards so you can decide what is worth reading in seconds. Every story includes the main bullet-point takeaways, category, estimated reading time, and a match score. Stories you like are saved in a separate tab, and your feed keeps a mix of personalized, trending, and random picks so you still discover new topics. No signup required.
Hey everyone, I'm a CS Junior and I built HackerSwipe as a side project because I got frustrated opening Hacker News stories that sounded interesting from the headline, but turned out to be something totally different once I clicked.
The idea was to make HN feel a little easier to browse without losing the fun of discovering new stuff. So instead of just showing headlines, HackerSwipe turns stories into cards with short AI summaries, a match score, and an estimated reading time. If something looks interesting, you can dive in faster. If not, you move on.
A couple of things I cared about while building it:
- the feed adapts to what you actually read
- stories you like are saved in a separate tab
- the feed still keeps trending and random picks, so it does not get repetitive
- you can view your stats such as favorite categories and swipes
I tried to keep it lightweight and useful rather than overcomplicating it. You can try it with no signup, and I would really appreciate feedback on whether the summaries help, whether the recommendations feel accurate, and what would make it more interesting/useful.
Thanks for checking it out!
