shouldIApply
Should you even apply for that job? An honest yes or no
shouldIApply matches your resume against a job posting and gives an honest GO or NO-GO — even when the answer is "don't bother." See the ATS keywords you're missing and get a truthful rewrite only when you're actually a match. Free resume checker + keyword library included.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built shouldIApply after watching too many people (myself included) pour hours into job applications that were never going to land — tailoring resumes, writing cover letters, hitting "submit," and hearing nothing back.
Here's the thing that bugged me: most resume tools make money when you keep scanning, so they always nudge you to "improve your score and apply!" — even for jobs you have no real shot at. I wanted the opposite. A tool honest enough to tell you "don't bother, this one isn't worth your time."
So that's what shouldIApply does. Paste your resume and a job posting, and you get:
• An honest GO or NO-GO verdict in about 20 seconds
• The exact ATS keywords you're missing
• A truthful rewrite — only when you're actually a match (it won't fabricate experience you don't have)
There's also a free resume checker and an ATS keyword library, no signup needed.
The honest "no" is the whole point — it's the thing competitors structurally can't copy, because their business depends on you scanning more.
I'd genuinely love your feedback, especially on this: when you're job hunting, would you actually want a tool to tell you NOT to apply — or does that feel discouraging? I've gone back and forth on it and I'm curious what this community thinks.
Thanks for checking it out 🙏
