Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share GhostTeX.
I built this because working with scientific PDFs, scanned papers, and handwritten notes can be painfully slow when you need the actual LaTeX source. Retyping equations by hand, reconstructing old documents, or turning notes into something editable takes way too much time.
GhostTeX is my attempt to make that workflow feel effortless. You can drop in a PDF, scan, or image, and it turns the content into clean, editable LaTeX right on your Mac. It also includes a built-in chatbot, so you can reshape the output directly by asking for what you want: fix an equation, split a long formula, convert something into an align environment, clean up formatting, or restructure the TeX without leaving the app.
The whole point was to keep the workflow fast, private, and local, so your documents never need to be uploaded anywhere.
I’d love feedback from anyone who works with LaTeX, research papers, lecture notes, or technical documents. I’m especially curious how it handles your real-world equations, formatting, and editing workflows.
