FrameCut started with a simple frustration: my wife was paying approximately $22 per month for CapCut. She uses it regularly to create content for TikTok and YouTube, but I started questioning why powerful video editing tools needed to be tied to increasingly expensive subscriptions. Rather than just complaining about the price, I decided to build an alternative myself. The original goal was straightforward: create an iPhone video editor with the essential tools creators actually use, without forcing them into expensive monthly subscriptions. What started as a personal project has gradually evolved into something bigger. I realized that many creators, especially beginners, students, and smaller content creators, need capable editing software but cannot justify paying for expensive subscriptions. FrameCut is my attempt to make mobile video editing more accessible while still offering the functionality people expect from modern editing applications. The app is currently in public beta, and I’m inviting users to help shape its development.
