Fluxx: Fitness & Psychology
It's about HOW you change, not only what you change.
Fluxx — the fitness app that doesn't give you a plan. Plans fail because change is hard. Too much change at once causes the brain to resist, hence why fitness apps have terrible retention rates. Instead, Fluxx watches how you already train, then uses behavioural science to introduce one small change at a time. Small enough to stick, but tailored exactly to what your goal needs. No overhauls. No "6-week transformation". Just compounding progress. For gym-goers who want a system, not a gimmick.
Hey Everyone!
Thought I'd use this as a chance to share a bit about our journey building Fluxx.
For me, fitness has always been a process. Ups and downs, highs and lows. It's never been as straightforward as "follow this and you'll get this."
After a tonne of failed attempts and customer interviews, me and my co-founder realised something significant: cognitive load.
The reason no one can just follow the perfect plan is because it requires too much mental energy. People fall back to what's comfortable, but comfort doesn't always lead to results.
So we went deep into psychological and behavioural research, and the science is clear: people can't just "change", even if they know it's good for them. Change has to be small enough that the brain doesn't resist it.
That's when we pivoted. Instead of building a generic fitness app, we built Fluxx around delivering the right change at the right time, so users actually adopt it and stick with it for the long run.
Worth noting, me and my co-founder studied physics and mechanical engineering at uni. We're not here to pretend we're neuroscience experts, but I promise we've done an insane amount of research into how the brain works.
What's the change you keep meaning to make but never do?
