EliteBooks
Free invoicing and real double-entry books for freelancers
Free invoicing, quotes, expenses, time tracking and a full double-entry ledger — permanently, with no trial timer and no card required. The paid plan covers only what carries a real per-user cost: bank feeds, AI receipt scanning, automation. Two things that are structural, not promises: card payments settle into your own Stripe account, and bank connections are read-only. Built for the US and Canada — 1099-NEC tracking, sales tax, a US chart of accounts.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Omar. I built EliteBooks after watching the same thing happen to freelancer after freelancer: the books get put off until April, and then a weekend disappears into eleven months of uncategorised transactions.
The part I couldn't get past is that most tools charge monthly for things that cost nothing to run. Sending an invoice costs the vendor nothing. Storing a ledger entry costs nothing. So those are free here — permanently, no trial timer, no card. The paid plan covers only what actually bills me every month: bank feed connections, AI receipt scanning, automation.
Two things are structural rather than promises:
→ Card payments settle into your own Stripe account. I can't hold your money, delay it, or freeze it.
→ Bank connections are read-only. The app can see transactions; it cannot move anything.
Underneath is a real double-entry ledger, so the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and trial balance come from actual entries rather than being estimated from a list. Built for the US and Canada — 1099-NEC tracking, sales tax, a US chart of accounts.
I'm one person, and I don't write code — I ship with AI tooling. That has a specific failure mode I've learned to respect: things report success while doing nothing. A deploy once told me "migrations applied successfully" while running a stale image. And last week I found the 1099 reporting threshold hardcoded at $600 in six places, months after the law raised it to $2,000 — it compiled fine and nothing failed.
Both were caught by reading the state back, never by trusting the message.
Happy to answer anything, including what's still broken.
