Decision Tree Builder

Decision-tree builder for comparing options side by side

A tool for comparing options and making decisions you can explain. Build a tree of choices, add costs, pros and cons, flag blockers and track which goals each path covers. It runs entirely in your browser from a single HTML file: nothing to install and no data leaves your computer. Save and share your work as an Excel file.

Hi Product Hunt! I built Decision Tree Builder because I kept running into the same problem at work: big decisions with several moving parts, each with a few possible options, and no simple way to lay them all out, compare them and explain the choice to others. Spreadsheets got messy, slides got out of date, and diagram tools did not do the maths. So I made a small tool that does just this: - Build a tree of choices: split a decision into workstreams, then add options and sub-options under each one. - Add a cost, pros and cons, and an outcome to every option. Flag anything that blocks it. - Pick one path per workstream and watch the totals update as you go. - Define the goals you need to hit and see which of them each path covers. - Save, resume and share your work as an Excel file, or export a picture of the tree for your slides. A few things I cared about: - It is a single HTML file. No install, no sign-up, no server. - It runs entirely in your browser and your data never leaves your computer. - It is free and open source. It opens with a small dinner-party example (meat, fish or vegetarian, and what to drink), so you can see how it works in about a minute. I would love your feedback, especially: - What kind of decisions would you use it for? - What is missing that would make it part of your workflow? Thanks for taking a look!
