Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm John, maker of CyberWriter. My day job is Chief Analytics Officer at one of NYC's largest community health center networks, where I'm responsible for clinical data infrastructure and a lot of writing - research notes, documentation, scientific manuscripts. I built CyberWriter because I kept hitting the same wall with the markdown editors I'd otherwise love, but needed something more secure, that doesn't rely on plugins for Mermaid, graph links, AI, KaTeX, CSS, templates etc. Most of the best ones are Electron-based and depend on community plugins to do anything beyond the basics. No shade at Obsidian, but every plugin you install is a third-party dependency that gets handed your content. When the content is anything sensitive, that calculus stops working for me. I wanted a fully native Swift, sandboxed editor where the features I actually needed - AI assistance, scientific writing tooling, citation handling - were built in, not stitched together from a plugin marketplace. macOS sandboxing isn't a checkbox here; it's an architectural boundary that means CyberWriter can't reach files or network endpoints it hasn't been explicitly granted. Apple Intelligence creates a map of your vault and RAG embeddings which can be sent as context to your own local or cloud AI models. I don't want subscription fees or to sell AI services, bring your own! It's the editor I wish existed during late-night drafts with a half-finished paper and a stack of PDFs open. Would love your feedback, especially from folks who write in environments where "trust me" isn't a good enough security mode.

Who hunted cyberWriter?

cyberWriter was hunted by John Taverna. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
