I built CUTOUT Studio out of pure frustration with current background removal tools. Most services force you behind a $20/month paywall, throttle resolution, or worst of all—upload your sensitive personal photos and signatures to untrusted cloud servers.
I wanted a tool that respects user privacy and runs with zero infrastructure costs.
Using Next.js, WebAssembly, and Web Workers, CUTOUT Studio processes everything locally in your browser:
1. High-fidelity image segmentation without backend compute.
2. An Otsu thresholding engine built specifically to clean messy ink signatures and thumb impressions for government portal uploads.
3. Strict biometric dimension and file-size constraints (<50KB).
