Cavemode
A menu-bar Claude rate-limit tracker. With dignity loss.
A Claude usage tracker for your macOS menu bar with a floating desktop widget. Six stages, a funeral, Slap Attack minigame at rate limit. $9.99 once.A macOS menu-bar Claude usage tracker that visualizes your rate limit as reverse evolution: from omniscient robot to grunting caveman. Die at 100%, get a shareable death certificate, slap a Mac until reset. $9.99 once. No subscription. Data stays on-device.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Cavemode after watching myself rage-refresh claude.ai for the
fifth time in a week. The Claude usage indicator is buried three menus
deep, and by the time you find it you've already burned through your
session.
So I made a menu-bar app that turns your rate limit into a six-stage
reverse-evolution joke:
• 0–19% — CLAUDE-9000, omniscient robot, slightly smug
• 20–39% — Dr. Claudius, brilliant but nervous
• 40–59% — Claude the Intern, trying his best, failing
• 60–79% — Clod, barely functional brute
• 80–99% — Ooga, full caveman, afraid of the screen
• 100% — UGH. Funeral included.
When you hit 100% there's an animated death sequence, a shareable death
certificate PNG, and a 60-second Slap Attack minigame so you have
something to do besides refresh the settings page.
It's $9.99 once. No subscription. Ships as a
4 MB universal binary, and your Claude session never leaves your Mac
— there are literally no servers (the Sentry/PostHog SDKs you'll see
In the bundle are opt-in, off by default, US region).
Would love feedback on the devolution stages, sound packs, and the
character art.
