Hey I'm Jai and I'm one of the co-founders of CaratRank. Alex and I built this because we were engagement ring shopping for our girlfriends and we almost got fleeced multiple times. We realized that many retailers charge 10x wholesale prices for loose diamonds and diamond jewelry, and there is no real way to compare prices of a specific diamond across retailers. It's so bad that consumers just end up spending the premium! Many of these retailers obfuscate the diamonds they're selling, and they purposefully don't offer a way to search by the certificate/serial number each diamond is imprinted with to make it difficult to compare across websites. The few websites that exist to compare diamond prices actually take referral fees and are not unbiased, so they typically only show 1-2 retailers that they have financial arrangements with. We are the only way to search across 20+ retailers. Try us out, and see the price differential for yourself.
