Capslane

Reliable YouTube transcripts through one API

Capslane gives developers a stable API for YouTube transcripts. It returns native captions when available and automatically generates a timestamped transcript when they are missing. Get plain text or structured segments, choose a language, manage API keys, inspect usage, and connect through JavaScript, Python, MCP, or n8n. Start with 50 free requests each month.

Top comment

Hi builders, We built Capslane after making YouTube transcripts a critical part of Gems, our video workflow product. Using an external transcript API was convenient at first, but we needed predictable responses, clear failure states, and a fallback when captions were missing. Capslane is the API we wanted to use ourselves. Send a YouTube URL and it first looks for native captions. If none are available, auto mode starts a transcription job. Both paths return the same structured response, with text, language data, and millisecond timestamps. We also built the parts we kept needing in production: workspace API keys, request logs, usage limits, a shared cache, JavaScript and Python SDKs, an MCP server, and an n8n node. There is a free plan with 50 requests and 15 generated minutes per month, so you can test a real integration without entering a card. Capslane is still an early product, and I would especially value feedback from developers who already depend on YouTube transcripts. What would make it easier for you to trust a transcript API in production: better language handling, more integrations, clearer reliability data, or something else?
