Cairn
Three good things, every night. No streaks.
Cairn is a nightly gratitude journal for iPhone. Each evening a gentle reminder asks for three things you're thankful for, and that's it: no streaks, no scores, no guilt when you miss a night. Now and then Cairn resurfaces an old entry so the good days come back to you. No account, nothing leaves your phone (optional iCloud backup). Free core, with a one-off £2.99 unlock for voice entry, search, on-this-day, a Lock Screen widget and export. No subscription, no ads.
Hi Product Hunt. I'm the solo maker behind Northlight, a small studio building focused, single-purpose iPhone apps.
Why Cairn: writing down three good things at the end of the day is one of the simplest habits I've found, but every gratitude app I tried turned it into a chore with streaks to protect, prompts to answer, moods to rate and a subscription to keep paying. The moment I missed a night, the streak broke and I stopped.
So Cairn does one thing. A reminder each night, three lines, done in under a minute. If you miss a week, nothing scolds you; you just pick it back up. Every so often it shows you something you wrote months ago, which turned out to be the best part.
A few choices I made deliberately:
- No account and no sign-in. Your entries stay on your device, with optional iCloud backup
- No streaks, badges or scores
- Free to use properly. A one-off £2.99 unlock adds voice entry, search, on-this-day, and a home Screen widget. No subscription, no ads
The name comes from cairns, the small stone stacks walkers leave on a path. One stone doesn't mean much; over time they mark the way.
I'd love your feedback, especially on the reminder timing and what you'd want resurfaced. Thanks for taking a look.
