Caelo
Let AI run your website without breaking its design
Any AI can build a homepage. Caelo is the open-source CMS for everything after. Point at your site in Live Edit and say what to change, or drive it from Claude Code over MCP. Every page is built from your own design system, so page fifty matches page one. The AI works in a draft, Lighthouse checks changes to how pages look, and by default only a person can publish. Visitors get static HTML, with no admin login on your public site. Bring your current site along. Self-hosted, free, MPL 2.0.
I built Caelo because I was stuck between two bad options. WordPress plus AI and MCP gets a lot done, but every page the AI built came out a little different. So we built a site as plain HTML with Claude Code instead. It looked great, until the rest of the team and our freelancers couldn't edit it anymore. I wanted AI speed and a site that stays one site.
The proof: caelo-cms.com runs on Caelo, and most of it was built from Claude Code over MCP. The agent built and staged, a person clicked publish.
What's different: • Your design system is the guardrail. One theme, layouts, templates and modules. The AI builds from those parts, so page fifty looks like page one, and a colleague can change a price without touching the layout. • Three ways in, same rules. Click an element of your site in Live Edit and say what to change, use the built-in chat, or connect Claude Code over MCP (200+ tools, running on the plan you already pay for). • Nothing goes live by accident. The AI works in a draft. When a change affects how pages look, Lighthouse checks it and new problems block the publish. Hard-to-undo changes like a new theme or user wait for approval. By default, going live is a person's click (owners can opt in to automatic publishing; then text changes go live directly, and anything that changes how pages render is staged and checked first). • Visitors only get finished static HTML (on Google Cloud from a CDN). The editor lives on its own address, so there's no admin login on your public site. • Bring your current site. Caelo rebuilds it in its own system, keeps your page addresses where it can, sets 301 redirects for the rest, and carries over your meta descriptions.
Honest limits: it's pre-1.0. You host it yourself (Google Cloud from about $14/month before AI and traffic, or Docker Compose on your own server). There's no hosted demo yet; the quickest look is the product tour at caelo-cms.com/product/control/. One install runs one site.
We're looking for contributors: AWS and Azure installers are planned with the same setup as Google Cloud, and we'd love help finishing them: github.com/caelo-cms/caelo-cms/issues/5 (AWS) and /issues/6 (Azure).
One question for you: what would you need to see before you'd let an AI work on your live website?

Who hunted Caelo?
Caelo was hunted by Michael Weber. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
