Know exactly how much data you use, on every network
Byter shows how much internet data you use, and where. It tracks usage separately for every Wi‑Fi network, phone hotspot and wired connection, so you know exactly what your hotspot bundle went on. You also get live speed, a one-click speed test, daily-to-yearly charts, and gentle alerts when usage spikes. Everything stays on your device. No account, no ads. Available now for Mac, Windows coming soon, in 11 languages.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Maxx, the maker of Byter.
Sometime around May, I was working off my phone’s hotspot in Accra. I’d buy a data bundle in the morning, and by afternoon it was gone. No warning, no idea where it went. Was it my Mac? An update running in the background? The video call?
That got me wondering: why is it so hard to see where your internet data actually goes?
Your home Wi‑Fi, your office network and the hotspot you lean on when the power’s out all get blurred into one. And when the bundle runs dry, you find out the hard way.
So I built Byter, a calm little menu bar app that tracks your data usage and speed per network, keeps everything private on your device, and quietly tells you when usage spikes. It’s free, in 11 languages, available for Mac today, with Windows on the way.
Thank you for checking it out! 🙏
