AskFomo
Free and cheap things to do in a City
Fomo finds everything free and cheap in a City (Currently Edinburgh only): free comedy, £1 theatre, pub quizzes and student and local deals, all updated daily. Ask it things like “cheap date night in Leith on Friday” and get real answers on a map. Free, no sign-up needed.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Jasbir. I live in Edinburgh, and I kept finding out about the good cheap stuff after it happened: the £1 Traverse tickets, the free jazz on Wednesday, the thrift festival everyone went to. It’s all out there, scattered across venue sites, Instagram stories and student union newsletters, and nobody puts it in one place.
So I built Fomo, a guide to everything free and cheap on in Edinburgh (will add more cities later).
What it does:
🗓 This weekend. A fresh list every week of things to do for free or under £10.
🎓 Deals you qualify for. Student, under-26, EH-postcode and over-60 discounts most people don’t know exist. Think £10 theatre tickets for under-25s, or 20% off attractions for locals.
💬 Ask Fomo. Type things like “something to do this weekend under £10” or “cheap date night on Friday” and get real, current answers pinned on a map.
🔖 Save things and click straight through to tickets or the deal.
📮 Send a tip. Spot something we’re missing and it goes on the list.
Everything is pulled in and refreshed daily from venues, ticketing sites and local sources, and things that have ended drop off automatically.
Why only Edinburgh? I’d rather be properly useful in one city than half-useful everywhere. Students and young people here are the first audience. Once Edinburgh works, the plan is to take it to other cities.
It’s free and you don’t need an account to browse. I’d love brutal feedback:
What’s confusing?
If you know Edinburgh, what are we missing?
Which city should be next?
Thanks for checking it out 🙏
