my first startup failed. here's what im gonna change:
my first startup was a AI study app, and it had all features you'd think it have with with AI. notes, quizzes, flashcards, a tutor, allat. except for the fact that nobody really needed it. there was enough competition from ChatGPT and Gemini, and whenever I told my friends, they signed up for the sake of signing up (and rarely ever got on again). we reached a 139 users, but no more since.
in addition to that, i burnt a crap ton of money on promoting and messed up social media. i spent quite a bit getting paid flyers (worst decision by far) and for social media, decided to start of with memes as an engaging way to build traction (didn't work out well). i noticed that if my product had genuine interest and need, people would use it naturally, which obviously wasn't the case here.
i incorporated the company, got patent rights over it (now that i think of it, i don't truly know why) and allat, all for it to not even be of use.
so here's what's gonna change. screw the incorporation and patent stuff. i'm gonna build in public. and, i'm not gonna spend a dollar on promotions or social media, because raw genuine talent is the way (always has been imo). can't create the next facebook today lol. oh, and always continue to ship or keep iterating and working (don't slack off one day or the other).
i've already started appslapper, a vibe coding app (and this time i'm working on it quick quick quick + careful management) and trying to get a few people to test it to see if they really need it (not gonna repeat my mistake twice)
again, you may say "oh why a vibe coding app, there's already lovable, bolt, replit, etc..." i agree, ur not wrong. but they're priced like u have a job. i don't. that's my target audience, teens, young adolescents who want to start their side hustles. more so than affordable, the signup friction is intense, and appslapper solves that headache whilst remaining profitable. yeah.
thats all - thanks.
