Altair Finance
Privacy-first personal finance app for macOS.
Your finances stay on your Mac, with no bank and no cloud in the middle. Altair keeps net worth, transactions, and budgets in an encrypted file you unlock yourself. Update it manually, or turn on a local MCP and let your agent use and update the books.
Hey Hunters,
Every finance app I tried wanted a bank login or a cloud account. I just wanted to own the data and see my entire financial history. So I built Altair Finance.
Altair is a privacy-first personal finance app for macOS. Net worth, spending, and budgets live in an encrypted file you won. No signup. Accounts, transactions, transfers, and monthly budgets are all there, in HKD, USD, SGD, EUR, and GBP. Import a CSV or a PDF and the statement is parsed on this computer. Categories fill in from rules stored in the books.
You can stop there. Or, if you want, turn on a local MCP and connect the agent you already use. It can read and work with the open books. Your passphrase stays on the Mac, and anything destructive still waits for you to confirm on the machine.
Free and Open source.
Cheers,
Stefano
