ACS

CSS-like stylesheets for sound on the web

AudioCSS is a CSS-like declarative stylesheet language for audio. Instead of wiring every sound manually in JavaScript, you describe how UI elements should sound using familiar selectors, cascade, and properties. Add clicks, hovers, inputs, modals, spatial rooms, pitch, volume, and reduced-sound support with simple audio rules.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built AudioCSS because adding sound to web interfaces still feels too manual. On the visual side, we have CSS: selectors, cascade, media queries, and reusable styling rules. But for audio, we usually jump straight into JavaScript and wire every click, hover, modal, or input sound by hand. AudioCSS tries to bring the CSS mental model to sound. You can write rules like: button { sound-on-click: tap-tactile; } button.primary { sound-on-click: pop; pitch: +1st; } It supports familiar ideas like selectors, cascade, audio properties, room/spatial presets, volume, pitch, UI events, and prefers-reduced-sound. This is still early, but the goal is simple: make sound design on the web feel as easy and declarative as visual styling. I’d love to hear what you think, especially from frontend developers, interaction designers, and people building more expressive web experiences.

Who hunted ACS?

ACS was hunted by Görkem YILDIZ. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
